This eight starts a new scene as it shifts into Amara’s POV.
As always, David pushed past the natural awkwardness of new acquaintance like a trebuchet’s projectile barreling through a castle’s wall. “I’m from Ula, too!” David declared happily as I clutched and touched him from behind, taking strength and comfort from his nearness and familiarity when confronted with the armed man heavier in weight than the both of us combined.
“You are?” the knight said.
“Yup,” David nodded, “but we’re lost and we can’t find out way home. We’ve been walking a long, long time and w’re not even sure we’re going in the right direction.”
The knight frowned but quickly blanked his face. “Then I will take you to Ula. I would be remiss if I left mother and child with no escort in these wild environs.”

Interesting. Something seems too easy here, about just going back to Ula…enjoyed the snippet!

Don’t worry, things are going to get interesting, as in the Chinese version of interesting. Besides, just because David gets to go home, it doesn’t mean Amara ever will.
