First off, I did get my taxes done. Finished them yesterday. That’s one thing off my shoulders. Not that it makes my week any lighter, really. I have guests coming over on Friday, and they’ll be staying for like a week. That’s always stressful. My apartment is a mess (as always), so there is that mad impulse to make it “guest ready” which really just ends up in “well, at least it’s not as bad as it was.” Will probably cut into my writing/editing time over the next week or two, though.
Almost done with episode 1 of my serial (just need to make a few corrections from my last draft) and reached 22% in Alien Captain. Currently working through setting up Ream and Stripe (the payment processing company for the subscription service). Getting the invite, however, makes me realize I still don’t have the cover art done for either of those stories. Will need to work on that before launching the service or create temporary covers (honestly, at this point, probably the latter). With my serial, I’m realizing I need to tweak my process a little for my proofreading step, seeing as I usually format the ebook then export it to my tablet for that final draft. With a serial, I’m not doing that so…

I’m in Love with Mothman by Paige Lavoie – I don’t know what it is about this book, but the further I got into it, the less it interested me. I still think Mothman is adorable and the two of them are made for each other, but it almost feels like nothing happens in the story. At first, I thought it was just me, but even after several reading sessions, I have to admit, the story feels flat. It’s not just a mood I’m in. It’s like each of the events that happens are muted, like a mute on a trumpet. Even the sex scenes often have me forgetting what they’re up to. I’m not sure exactly why I feel this way. I mean, the author seems like a good writer, I like the characters. Maybe it’s just not as intense as I need?
